Landscove Developments

The purpose of this web site is to question the suitability of Landscove in Devon for housing developments and to assist the local community submit comments to South Hams District Council.
Vehicles accessing these developments will add traffic to roads leading to these sites. These roads have been described by Devon County Council to be woefully inadequate in terms of width. There is an absence of turning spaces and the cost of widening long stretches of narrow road will be prohibitive.
This site gives some insight into what considerations the Local Planning Authority makes when granting or refusing planning permission.

Extracts from Case Officer Reports

"Whilst the direct vehicle access to the site is reasonable from a safety perspective, the roads leading to the site are woefully inadequate in width terms."
The above statement was made by Devon County Highways Authority in the Officer Report for South Hams District Council when deciding "Prior Approval Not required" on 7th December 2015.
"One objection goes into great detail about the unsustainable location of the site... This is correct and the site is not somewhere where the principle of residential development would generally be supported."
The above statement was made by the Case Officer at South Hams District Council in the Officer Report when deciding to give "Conditional Approval" on 12th October 2023. Prior approval had already been given under Class Q Development Rights in 2020.
